Bitcoin began in an election year, sort of. The bitcoin white paper, or the idea for bitcoin, was written and distributed to the world for the first time on Halloween 2008. The bitcoin network didn’t start until January 2009 though. Since then, bitcoin’s witnessed three US presidential elections.
